Just Boppin’ Around

Kansas City – Date Night

Don’t get me wrong there is nothing bad about a nice dinner date out, but sometimes you gotta step outside of the box and try something new. Check out these Kansas City date ideas that are some of my favorites that are currently on my bucket list.

1.

BRKTHROUGH

(6403 W 135th St Suite E4, Overland Park, KS 66223)

This date is for the couples who love a little competition. BRKTHROUGH is one of the newest gaming destinations in KC. There are over 35 different game rooms, each focusing on a different area such as mental, physical, and skill. You and your teammate compete to solve each room and earn points to get you on the leaderboard. Don’t worry if you start to get a little thirsty or work up an appetite you can head to the BRK Room where there is a tap wall with beer, wine, cider, and seltzers. Plus a full menu of different food options. Our night at BRKTHROUGH was one of the most fun date nights we’d had in a while. Also, don’t forget to wear your activewear.

2.

Cooking class

Food is the way into anyone’s heart! Taking a cooking class is such a great way to learn something new together while filling your bellies with something tasty. My boyfriend and I recently took a cooking class while on vacation and we had an absolute blast. We definitely want to add another cooking class to our date night rotation soon, so I had to do a little research on where we could have the same experience in KC. Here are a few places that offer cooking classes regularly.

3.

Boulevard Tour

(2534 Madison Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108)

If you’re from KC then you are no stranger to Boulevards Brewing Co., but have you gone on one of their many tours? Boulevard offers 3 different tours and don’t worry they all offer lots of opportunities to taste the brews for yourself. I suggest the Smokestack tour or the Unfiltered Tour to get all the inside scoop and the most opportunities to drink. My dad and I recently went on the Unfiltered tour and it was so cool. Before you even kick off the tour you get a pour of your choice. The start of the tour is a quick class on the art of tasting beer so you are fully prepared to go into the experience. The Unfiltered tour takes you deep behind the scenes of all the Boulevard magic. The Smokestack tour is next on my list because not only do you get the tour and beer tasting, but you also get food pairings.

4.

Creative Culture

(5235 W 116th Pl, Leawood, KS 66211; 207 Westport Rd, Kansas City, MO 64111 )

This place will add a little creativity and sweetness to your date. Creative Culture is a DIY Art Studio & a Milk Shake Bar. You can select a project from a variety of options such as a plant bar and pottery painting. While you are working hard on your projects you can sip on one of the most elaborate milkshakes I’ve seen. These milkshakes are piled high with additional treats like cupcakes and cookies. These are filling so it’s perfect to be shared by 2.

5.

Putt Putt Bar

Feeling a little nostalgic? Hitting a mini golf course is the most classic date out there, but these courses have a little grown-up twist. These putt-putt spots also have a bar. So you can have your club in one hand and a cocktail in the other. These 2 mini golf places are located indoors so it’s the perfect activity no matter the weather.
