Just Boppin’ Around

Kansas City – February Sipping Spots

Every month I will spotlight 6 different sips to check out. This can range from coffee shops, wineries, and breweries, If they serve something you can drink then they could be on the list. This month’s theme is coffee shops

1. Two Sugars

(1412 Westport Rd, Kansas City, MO 64111)

This coffee shop is a girly girl’s dream! I’m obsessed with the adorable pink and colorful atmosphere, ideal for the gram. Two Sugars is more than just a pretty place; they also have all your favorite caffeinated sips plus plenty of yummy bakery items.

2. Vested

(310 W 8th St, Kansas City, MO 64105; 2501 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108)

One of my absolute favorite coffee shops and it’s well deserved since they were just voted #3 on Yelp’s top 25 restaurants in KC. There are two locations, the first one and one in the Garment district which is my favorite. My go-to order is the Onyx Delight Latte and the Sausage Breakfast burrito, both are must-tries.

3. Outta The Blue Cafe

(5291 W 116th Pl, Leawood, KS 66211)

The second you walk into Outta the Blue you are transported to a breezy beach oasis. At Outta the Blue not only do they have a coffee and tea menu full of your favorites, but they also offer cocktails. These cocktails give you the feeling of hanging out poolside on vacation. During the day Outta the Blue is perfect for  catching up with friends or doing a little work. If you show up at night you’ll see the lights are turned down low with a neon glow and there may be live music or trivia. Might I also suggest grabbing a seat on one of their swings.

4. Jinkies Coffee & Hangout

(8350 W 151st St, Overland Park, KS 66223)

Jinkies! You gotta check out the grooviest little coffee shop in Overland Park. Jinkies Coffee & Hangout is sure to give you a burst of energy and it’s not just because of the coffee or one of their delicious in-house lemonades (all the lemonades are named after a Scooby Doo Character). The coffee shop is covered with colorful decor that brings you back to the 70s. Jinkies is also known for their unique seasonal menus that are filled with decadent-themed drinks. Currently, their seasonal menu highlights this upcoming season of love.

5. Cafe Ollama

(523 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108)

Ollama serves coffee that is full of love and culture. This coffee shop is Mexicano owned and Latin-American inspired. The shop itself is so cozy, colorful, and eclectic. Ollama got its buzz from being the first KC coffee shop to offer coffee flights. I ordered a flight when I visited and it was the perfect choice for someone like me who is a little more indecisive or just wants to try it all.

6. Rochester Brewing & Roasting

(2129 Washington St, Kansas City, MO 64108)

A coffee shop that brews up more that a great cup of coffee. Rochester brewing is a locally owned brewery, roastery, and event space. This spot is awesome it combines all the best feelings of a cozy coffee show and a cool brewery. I recently tried one of their seasonal drinks, the Toffee Nut Latte, which was delicious. They also have a large food menu as well for you to choose from if you work up an appetite while hanging out. This is the perfect Sunday spot because you can kick off the morning with a coffee and stay in the afternoon for a football game and a beer.
